Happy Fabulous Friday....

Well hello there!!
No, I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth....
I've just been a little busy this week- you know-
getting to know our newest addition
& catering to his every adorable whim.
DR has been able to be home too, which has been
great for us both to have the chance to go through
the "baby initiation" together.

I am proud to report that
HW has stepped into the role of big brother very well!
He loves mister baby & checks on him after
every whimper & gurgle he hears.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This weeks "Fabulous" for Fabulous Friday
is going to be a duplicate of last week.
(sorry.. I still can't believe how amazing he is)
Mister baby is just the most wonderful gift.
He makes us so happy & I can't imagine life without
him at this point.
Don't give up on me if I can't post to my blog daily for a while.
Days and nights are running together & finding enough time
to put together a blog post is proving pretty difficult.
Oh yeah!! I am working on another blog feature.
 This one is on an artist from
Virginia who does the most beautiful work.
I can't wait to introduce her to all of you.
I am sure you'll all approve!
Stay tuned.
Time flies when you're havin' fun!
Happy 2nd Anniversary to us!
My how things change & how time flies when you're having fun!
Two years ago today, DR and I were married.
It was the most perfect Charleston day.
Surrounded by all of our loving family and friends,
we couldn't have asked for more.
The very well dressed wedding party
My bouquet
The oh-so-perfect favors!
OK well there were those few "wilty" flowers desperate for water at the altar...
but I am so over that (right??)  & that our "get away car" didn't show up.
(thank heavens for the golf cart driver boy.)
BUT
in all seriousness, it was definitely a perfect event &
we have wonderful memories of the entire weekend!
Now I'm just wishing we were on our way to Sea Island
where we had the most perfect honeymoon.
The Cloister
Ocean view from a chaise lounge on our
private balcony at
The Cloister Beach Club
DR had fun with his fish eye camera.
I mean.. there's really no going wrong with a resort
that's got staff uniforms designed by Tibi:
I could really go for some lobster mac & cheese from Big George's right about now.
One day when our
life gets as close to being as "normal" as possible,
we'll go back.
sigh....
footnote:
(mister baby has the most edible looking tootsies)
Excited to spend day number 2 at home with
DR, mister baby & Grandy (my mom)
loving every minute of this mommy business.
Happy Terrifyingly Terrific Thursday...
Hidey Ho friends!
What's new?
Nothing much here.
Well...
I mean, besides the fact that
I'm well on my way to having a baby!!
(hence "terrifyingly terrific" & the auto posted blog today)
If I am feeling just ducky,
I might just hop on the ol' laptop & fill you in
on the real life hospital drama ie:
-How spending the night was
-How ahem *fabulous* DR is being (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)
-If the bed really is as uncomfortable as they said it'd be
-If there's anyone screaming bloody murder within earshot
You know, that kind of fun stuff.
Look out Seattle Grace & Mercy West,
Methodist Germantown's giving you
a run for your money!
Happy mister baby's birthday (hopefully) to you!!
Who's yer Momma & The Versatile Blogger award...
Juuuuust in case you haven't been keeping up,
today's my due date!
Aaaahhhhhhhh!!
Scared thrilled to tears & just hoping all goes
smoothly & mister baby arrives without any complication.
My Mother is here from Pennsylvania staying until ...?..?
*I mean... she brought her printer, scanner fax machine
WITH her from home which basically enables her
to stay forever!! :)
She will hold down the fort once we leave tonight
& make sure Otter & HW don't burn the joint down.
wowowow this is for real!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, down to this mornings business...
I want to give a giant thank you to
for awarding me with
The Versatile Blogger award.
I've enjoyed her blog since I first came across it because we seem to have a lot in common.
THAT SAID-
Who knew that she and I have a dear friend in common?
(In real life) Not that blogging isn't real but you know what I mean.
She & her husband are good friends with a college pal of mine & her husband!
This all came out over the weekend when she & the college pal were spending some QT together.
Seriously... what a SMALL WORLD!!
The rules for the award are simple, just list seven things about yourself.

1) I am an adopted, only child.

2) I grew up in the Philadelphia Suburbs.

3) I have a Vera Bradley collection that will knock your socks off.

4) I wear pearl earrings every single day.

5) My toenails are always pink.

6) If I don't dry and straighten my hair I tend to resemble a cocker spaniel.

7) (& prob the weirdest of all) I can not STAND to touch hotel comforters.

I would have included pictures like Ashley did but...
that means I'd have to go take them and
I am just not so much into that right this second.

So now to award this to others
hummmmm....

Congratulations to:
I enjoy all of your blogs so keep the good stuff coming!

Tuesday tidbits on tactfulness...

In honor of National Etiquette Week
I thought I would share with you, some
seriously socially inappropriate behavior
that I've encountered since being
"with child."

First there was the random lady in the parking lot
at the grocery store who while loading groceries into
the trunk of her car turned to me,
saw I was pregnant & decided to congratulate me,
tell me that God blesses me & my unborn
ALL THE WHILE
patting my belly like I was Buddha!
Suggestions on how to react-
1)Take a step back as the stranger goes in for the belly pat
while politely thanking the complete stranger
& go on with your day
2)reach right back & violate their personal space
& rub THEIR belly?
(not brazen enough to do this one myself but
I bet it'd make them think before they
reach for the next belly that's not theirs!)

Then my personal favorites are the people
who like to tell the pregnant lady
how "HUGE" she is
or folks who like to ask
"Wow, what are you having triplets?!"
It's obvious that there's something going on inside that belly
but no one like's to be told they are HUGE!
suggestion on how to rephrase that
& not sound like a jacka**-
1)"Oh my you're all baby aren't you?"
or even..
2)"Looks like someone's swallowed a basketball!"

Your labor & delivery horror stories are not really
what anyone wants to hear.
Most especially, the first time pregnant lady!
Everyones pregnancies & deliveries are not the same.
There's no need to scare the daylights out of
the first timer with your delivery full of
extenuating circumstances.

Also- when engaging in conversation
with a pregnant woman
(no matter how well you think you know her)
don't ask her how she's feeling & expect a real answer.
She won't want to go into it with you
(& believe me there's always something kinda weird going on)
so she'll tell you she's feeling "OK" or "just fine, thank you."
Unless you're her mother, husband,
Doctor or BFF she's not going to
get into the details with you of what's really going on with her.
*Some women are all about sharing
& will go as far as to tell you details of her
recent bowel movements but
unless you're sure the person you're
approaching is one of those, it's better to play it safe
& refrain from even going there.

Perhaps this a lack of sensitivity/social skills is all
"normal" for where I'm currently living.
(I certainly hope not!)
OR
Maybe it's just that lots of people are guilty of not minding their manners
or better yet, not having any to begin with.
Say it with me now....

"wearing" mister baby....

"Baby wearing"
It sounds so weird to me BUT....
I've heard that lots of babies love it.
 I like the idea of having my hands free too.
That said,
 I' pretty sure I need one of these bad boys:
It's called a BabyHawk "Mei Tai".
It can be worn on the front or back
& is totally adjustable with the long straps
which tie in the front.

The fabric & strap combinations to choose from
are overwhelming me at the moment
BUT
I am leaning towards:

Straps- Light blue
Main fabric (side 1)- Doodle Loo Lime

Reverse fabric (side 2)- Dandy Damask Lime
OR
Reverse fabric (side 2)- Doodle Loo Brown
What do you think?
You can go here to look at other fabrics too.

What are your thoughts on/ experiences with
the concept of "baby wearing?"
DO TELL, DO TELL...

Doc says we're getting there but
 I'll be meeting mister baby sometime
on Thursday. I've got to be at the hospital
Wednesday night to start the process.
YIPPEEEE!!!!

Happy Mother's Day...

 Happy Mother's Day to all
Mothers, Grandmothers & Mothers to be.

I don't want to get all "deep"& ramble or brag
about how stinking fabulous my Mom is but
she's pretty great. (just FYI)
I couldn't ask for a better confidant/advisor/stylist/therapist & most of all friend.
I can't wait for her to get here this week
& to be here when mister baby arrives home.

I am certain the last diaper she changed was mine,
can't imagine she's burped or bathed any infants since me
either but I am sure it'll allll come back to her. :)
(it better or I'm doomed)

I am also glad she'll be here to take care of
ME when I get home.
From what I gather,
from friends who've been there/done that,
there's a good chance that I'll be less than a pleasure
to be around for a while &
If you know me, you'll agree that I can be
ahem.. quite the "handful" when I
am not at my best.

What if mister baby were to make his appearance today?
That sure would be pretty fabulous, wouldn't it?

OK, that said I am off in search of
a sticky bun or cinnamon roll of some sort.
Getoutta my way I am on a mission!

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.  ~Washington Irving
