Danish death traps & the winner is...

Hi friends!
Hope you all are having a fab weekend thus far!
DR, Mr. Baby & I have been in Philadelphia since Thursday .
(DR just for the weekend, the babers & I 'til Wednesday)
DR is here for a course & was put up in a pretty swank hotel
so I stayed in the city with him Friday night
& Mr. Baby had his first over night stay away from us.
He stayed with his Grandy & The Colonel (my parents)
It was Restaurant Week so we had dinner

at one of the participating restaurants- Tweed
It was so cold outside that we didn't wander far
for after dinner drinks & parked ourselves
next door at Finn McCools Ale House for a while.

We had the most fabulous time!
All the while, I got photo updates on all the
fun Mr. Baby was having with my parents.
We made it all the way back to the hotel, were about to
walk in but the entrance we got to had been locked
so we had
to go to the main entrance.
In the process of turning around & hurrying due to
the frigid temps I twisted my ankle & rolled right out
of my Danskos!!
Now, I am no stranger to falling off/out of my clogs,
I have actually done it numerous times
& apparently so have nearly all of my Dansko wearing friends
but this time was a doozy..
After hobbling around yesterday trying miserably to be a
tough guy, I went to the ER
aaaaaaand it's broken!
They splinted it & gave me crutches
HA, as if! (I do not crutch well)
I have to go to an Ortho Dr Mon AM to get a stinkin' boot.
Fun trip home to see the fam eh??
Bah..
I will be destroying both pair of my
"Danish death traps"
ASAP
ON A MUCH MORE EXCITING NOTE....
WE'VE GOT A WINNER FOR MY LILLY GIVEAWAY!
Congrats to Jaime AKA
Fried Pink Tomato!
Thank you all so, much for entering
& for being such fun blog friends!

featured in the Boom Boom Room.
(the pre-show swag suite with all
sorts of fab kiddie stuff)
I came across the rest of the super sweet stuff
that was being given out &
thought I'd share it with my bloggie friends.

Hope everyone had a nice 3 day weekend

8 months & the best toy EVER

8 months.. that's a long time.
I mean- that's almost an entire pregnancy
& nearly a whole school year!

Mister Baby turned 8 months old this past Thursday.
I. can. not. believe it.

He is the most perfect little man.
He makes me laugh every single day,
is the most loving little guy
&
I am so proud to be his Momma!
(event though he is growing up much too fast for my liking)
*He's started crawling.
(He hasn't so much got a defined crawling gait per se
but he's mastered getting from point A to point B.)
*He loves to stand up, hold on to things  & bounce
*He likes to pat you on the back if you pick him up
*He claps & waves
*He's got his 2 bottom teethies
*He says mama & dada
(obv without knowing what either mean but still...)

He has a new very favorite toy too!!
it's the Fisher Price Little Superstar Sing-Along Stage.
I looked EVERYWHERE for this toy before Christmas,
only to be told that it's been discontinued.
Came across one yesterday,
couldn't believe my EYES
& snapped it up immediately!
It's now officially Mr. Baby's "go to" toy!
Pretty sure it'd be mine too if I were him.
Lights, a mirror, fun sounds & an audience!?!
C'moooon, it's the best!!

Fuh-reezing! Gone to Carolina in my mind....

Ok...
It is much too cold outside.
Everyone here keeps saying
"it never snows like this in Memphis."
Well folks, it's snowed every year I've lived here sooo...
not quite sure what you're talking about.
Don't get me wrong, Mondays snow day was fun-
I would just prefer the weather not to be so
bone chillingly cold!!

I may sound like every other irritated Southerner
who has been wishing for their
"beach weather" or "tanning time"
ever since the day after Halloween

BUT

I really have no right to be this whiny about the weather.
It's nothing compared to winters where I grew up,
in the suburbs of Philadelphia.
I used to be a cold weather warrior,
a virtual bad ass of "brrrrrr"!
I would spend my weekends chipping ice off of
horses frozen water buckets for heavens sake!
I'd never think twice about wearing 2 (or 3) pairs of socks at once
& I would go ice skating OUTSIDE (gasp!) for fun!

Nasty weather, whether it's cold or unbearably hot,
(FYI- Memphis gets both of those categories of "nasty")
always makes me wish I were back in Charleston
I miss every single thing about The Holy City.
The weather, beach, palmetto trees, pluff mud,
bridges, lighthouses, sweetgrass baskets, Shem Creek,
my friends....
(For all of you fact checkers, yes it did snow there recently
but it's an extremely rare occurrence.)

My fingers (& toes) are crossed that after our
5 years in Memphis
for DR's Residency we might just be lucky enough
 to return to The Lowcountry.
That would certainly make this displaced Yankee
extremely happy
& phrases like: "below zero temperatures,"
"winter weather advisory" & "freeze warning,"
will be foreign to my vocabulary!!

Sigh....

Mr. Baby New Year!

Welcome 2011!
(Mister Baby 1/1/11)

The stereotypical representation of Baby New Year is as a male baby wearing nothing more than a diaper, a top hat and a sash across his torso that shows the year he is representing. Sometimes he is holding an hourglass or is otherwise associated with one. Often, he is not a complete newborn but is slightly older, because he is frequently shown standing on his own, barely walking, or having a small amount of head hair
J.C. Leyendecker's December 28, 1907 cover of The Saturday Evening Post depicting a stork and Baby New Year. The myth associated with him is that he is a baby at the beginning of his year, but Baby New Year quickly grows up until he is an elderly bearded man like Father Time at the end of his year.
At this point, he hands over his duties to the next Baby New Year.

In addition to being a mythical figure, the Baby New Year is sometimes a real person. The first baby born in any village or city in a certain year may be honored by being labeled as the official Baby New Year for that year. The official Baby New Year can be male or female, even though the mythical Baby New Year is nearly always male. Attempts to name an official Baby New Year for an entire country have sometimes been made, but generally there are multiple contenders and no single Baby New Year can be confirmed.

Hope y'all had a fabulous & fun New Years Eve!
New Years Day at our hive consisted of:
 watching the Rose Parade
(would not miss it for the world. this girl LOVES a parade),
watching Alabama win- Roll Tide!
& enjoying leftovers from our little soiree last night.
