tiny stuff circa 1981...

Thursday already!? Wow...

Yesterday DR & I got a package in the mail from his Mother.
It's contents were nothing less than excessive adorableness
Everything in the box was DR's when he was a baby.
His mother kept so many wonderful little outfits!
Teeny tiny Feltman Bros outfits, diaper shirts, monogrammed
& hand embroidered bibs and my most favorite piece-

I am nearly positive this is Lilly of some sort,
 circa 30 29 years ago.
How ridiculously fabulous is it?!

Here's a peek at some of the rest of the goodies-

I also particularly enjoy the belted bubble in the back with the blue, appliqued long legged birds.
They're not flamingos DR insisted!  I suggested that perhaps they are "man-mingos?"
Whatever the shorebird.. it's a pretty fantastic getup.

OOPS! look what I found!

Yes, that is baby DR modeling the manmingo bubble!
Oh 1981, you were a good year.
(Almost as good as 1980.)

DR's birthday is actually tomorrow so these tiny outfits of his
will probably fit mister baby sometime this summer.
I was an August baby oh yeah, & a girl, soooo most of my
"antique" baby clothes will just not work this time around.
Maybe next time?

Bee good!

  1. DR was almost as cute then as he is now - just hope that hairline isn't a premonition of things to come.

  4. Your Mammy just gave me your blog address. You are quite the witty one, my dear. BTW, just read a little bio about Mrs. Lilly herself and she designed these fabrics because she was tired of nasty stains when sashaying about at BBQ's. Sooo, the bib really is perfectly practical.
Now, go to bed. Mr. Baby needs you. xo

  5. Actually "it all started with a juice stand"
Lilly owned several juice stands in Florida and was tired of getting juice stains all over herself while working so she had her seamstress create her some dresses with "Lilly-esque" patterns that she came up with and the rest is really history!
Thanks for tuning in Shirley! xo
