As the arrival of mister baby approaches, I have been spending a lot of time at home &
have begun to feel sort of sad. Not sad about having a baby because I can't wait to meet this little man but sad because the last thing I want is for my other child to feel neglected.
You see my first child, Hairy Winston,
is a nearly 5 year old Maltipoo.

He has been my sidekick since the moment I got him.
When we lived in Charleston,
he went to work with me every single day.

We had great friends who owned a dog store where,
when he pounced in he was the canine version of
Norm from Cheers.. everybody knew his name & loved him!

His girlfriend, a Boykin Spaniel named Sumac
(& furry daughter of my BFF Kiki,)

lived across the street~ HW had it made in the shade!
Moving to Memphis was quite the adjustment for him. For the first time, he had to stay home
all day with his cat brother while DR and I went to work.
Sadly, after 2 years, he still doesn't have any TN dog friends.
I guess we just haven't met the right dogs.

He does have a great backyard which he loves, a chaise lounge that I sometimes have to fight him for
& a regular spot in the middle (ok, more to the left of middle on DR's side) of our bed.

He's done well so far with these changes but I just desperately hope the introduction of
mister baby doesn't throw him through a terrible loop which would break my heart.
I guess we'll have to wait & see.

Luckily, several friends of mine who've recently brought their human babies home
(much to the chagrin of their fur babies)
have had fabulous results & now have a furry helper,
protector, cleaning crew & 3rd set of eyes.

Here's to hoping HW can be as fabulous a fur brother as he is fur baby!
DR's on call (bah) and has been gone since early this AM....

maybe he will be home soon and he can take HW on a romp in this beautiful weather.
Bee Good!

These are adorable pictures! He seems like such a sweetheart!
ReplyDeleteOur furry friends are right there with Hairy! I am trying to get them warmed up to the smells of baby.
ReplyDeleteI feel sad for them too! I know they won't be able to get all my attention anymore. We should have fur baby playdate when we have baby playdate. Or maybe not because that would be a handful of me! Or at least take them to the park one weekend when the boys are with us.
Again, let me know if I can bring you anything. I am too close not to give me a shout if you want some ice cream or lunch or something.
Hey girl, it's "JM". I got your email. I had no idea you had a blog! I've been blogging for almost two years now. But it's semi-anonymous if you know what I mean. I'm so excited for you. This baby is going to be here soon!
